Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero

This plane was part of the 18th Squadriligia, 28th Gruppo, 8th Stormo Bombardameto Veloce Falchi delle Baleari - based at Son San Juan, Spain in June, 1938.

The SM.79 was Italy's best bomber in Spain and in fact throughout WWII. After serving in Spain, it continued in bombing and torpedo attack roles through 1943, serving over East Africa, the Med, and in the Desert theaters. Exactly 100 were sent to fight in the Spanish Civil War for the Spanish Nationalist side.

I created the SM.79 model for Emil's Malta and Desert War War campaigns plus the upcoming Spanish Civil War campaign. I used Cord's Ju-52 to start development from.

Moggy was also a contributor to this model, doing the paste on points work to allow adding the dorsal guns and ventral dust bin bomb aimer's position.

I also did the skin camouflage for this plane. The model is non mirrored.

This plane is for use in the He111 slot in Garles Gunst's ECAPanel which has the SM79 flight model.

The PCX is provided in case you would like to try creating a new skin for the Sparviero - with my blessings.

Cheers,
